Dinesh Karthikis a wicketkeeper-batsman who has made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2004 and has been a regular member of the team for varying periods since then, including a stint in 2007 as a specialist opening batsman and non-wicket-keeper. Karthik began playing cricket at the age of ten. Karthik took part in the dance reality show Ek Khiladi Ek Hasina partering with Nigaar Khan. Karthik married in 2007.

He was picked in the Indian one-day squad, as replacement for Parthiv Patel, in August 2004, and made his debut in a NatWest Challenge game against England where he pulled off a superb stumping. Shortly afterwards, he was called up to make his Test debut against Australia in the fourth Test at Mumbai.

He has made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2004.

Rising through the junior ranks, Karthik made his first-class debut in late-2002 for Tamil Nadu as a 17-year-old.
